I was contacted in Dec 2008 and told that I have a son from a brief relationship 15 years before. I was shocked that they could do this, my wife opened the letter and my whole world fell apart. I was made redundant in May, 1 month after the CSA contacted me again about payments. I am now working part time and not earning a great deal but I have been warned to take out loans to pay the arrears. I asked why I was being treated like a criminal as I had broken no laws and had not denied the relationship. The lady(?) on the phone told me they were looking at my credit history and that I must take out loans to pay. I told her that even criminals are not forced to do this to pay fines, so why was I different? She is reporting me to her manager. I know more about the history of this good mother and they do not want to know. I do not want to get involved in a slanging match, but I am being portrayed as a poor parent who abandoned his child. She left me for another man and has had many others since. I was just unlucky.
