I am a mother of 4 children, 2 from my previous relationship, and have been in contact with the csa since they were 3 and 1 and they are now 9 and 7. I was told at the beginning how much he should be paying me and when and then he left his job! since then he has been in and out of work, and the only times i have recieved money promptly is when he is on jobseekers which i would get 5 pound a week for 2 children. I am constantly complaining to the csa and its always a new representative that apologizes for the service and says they will send me all the information i require and sort it out for me. No surprise after this phone call i never hear from them again until i next complain! Im sick and tired of wasting money contacting these people when they should be doing their job and getting money to me. Meanwhile their father is still living at home with his mother and has recently got a new car! I havent recieved anything since he supposedly stopped claiming jsa in february even though there are pictures on facebook of him working since june the year before! If i can find all this out myself then what exactly are the csa doing?! and why am i still not recieving any money?! My children are missing out thanks to this useless company and i say we should start a petition and take it to the house of commons to scrap it! Its a waste of taxpayers money and i for one have had enough of hoping they might get it right!

I would be all for a petition and i believe many others would also. even to get the minimum amount of maintenance raised 5 a week is ridiculous.

At the end of the day the CSA are only looking after their jobs. They don't give a jot about anyone else. They are a bunch of lying crooks and if they don't start that way they are soon corrupted by the rest of them after a few months. It is a typical government department, easy job, no stress, easy money, pension, no one to answer to, no competition. Why should they care.

I know exactly how you feel sandie... I have been registered with CSA for over 10 years and have been fobbed off with all kinds of excuses. My ex changes jobs when they catch up with him and then it takes a year or more to catch him again, they have promised to take action but nothing has ever been done. in 10years ive received maybe 18 months maintenance and he is still getting away with it .I think the situation should be taken back over by the courts or as in other countries the absent partner should be jailed if not willing to make payments. I have just made another complaint to them but no doubt i will be fobbed off with even more apologies and excuses. ITS RIDICULOUS.
I would certainly be up for signing a petition. My own father was jailed for not paying maintenance to my mother, he soon got the message .

The CSA are a disgrace and this week the National Audit Office refused to accept their accounts because there are so many errors in them:

I suggest you complain to the CSA, and when that doesn't get you anywhere (because it never does), take it to the Independent Case Examiner. When I went to them within five minutes of me telling them what had happened they said the CSA had broken their own rules. They are now conducting a full investigation into how the CSA have handled my case over the last 10+ years, despite the CSA trying to stop them at every turn.
I got to the point I couldn't phone the CSA without a valium before and a lie down afterwards. I hope the ICE throws the book at them.

Complain to your MP. Some MPs will use their influence to write to the CEO and get things happening. In many cases the CSA IS collecting the money but just doesn't pass it on. But if your ex is out of work all the time, then you can only get the £5 per week. The fundamental problem is with the DSS that does nothing about making people who refuse to work find jobs. Both the lazy guys on Job Seekers, who sometimes are working on the side, cash in hand, and the lazy women who seem to think that they can sit on Income Support and Housing Benefit and don't have to work and provide for their children. Both parents are responsible for looking after providing for their children.

Check out "CSA - If we have to pay, we want our say" on Facebook. Many people on their with similar problems to yourself. Some have succeeded in getting the payments thru.
