My partner has just been re-assessed by the CSA. He was paying £340.00 for one child now they expect us to pay them £500.00 a month. We have a daughter together and I have a son from a previous marriage. They do not even take into consideration whether we have any debts to consider. We are on the "old system" and that's the way it is. Your wage has gone up by £40 a week so therefore your ex should get this. Surely my daughter should get half the benefit of this. Her housing costs are high apparently compared to her weekly wage. May be that's because she works part-time and her new partner of pays all the bills!! They don't take his earnings into consideration but they take mine. His would only be taken into consideration if they a child together. They have and she is five years old. She has started through every application that she was single with two children. When we pointed this out yesterday we were told that wasn't their problem and this was in the past! We have arrears of £2,000.00 and now they expect us to pay these off on top of the new amount they want off us a month. When you ask for answers and explanations you are told "because that is the way it is". We even had one case worker telling us how to get on the new system but would mean me and my partner splitting up and me making a claim against him. What extremes you have to go through and I would not put my children through that!! When my partner spoke to a Case Worker yesterday he was sniggering down the phone. I am glad they find our lives so amusing!!
