I have 3 children aged 4,5 and 8. I have access to them despite having had a stormy on/off relationship with their Mum. We have lived together for periods and not lived together. Whilst working I have always registered my correct address and have been resident parent during those periods. When not living with her I have always paid (yeah I know, thought it would never happen to me) to support the kids, although I know she did claim benefits as well. I have lived with the family for the last 3 years, but recently moved out again, and she again claimed benefits. Last week, I received a letter at my partners address saying nomore than I was to pay 178.00 a week, no explanation of what children, whether I was the father, what children it involved, not even my National Insurance appeared on the notice. My (ex?) partner claims she has phoned them and asked them to stop this as it is wrong and she is scaredof me etc, knowing that if I was to pay this money she is not likely to see any of it whilst in receipt of benefits. Furthermore should it be investigated to any details she may be liable to prosecution for benefit fraud...... The CSA has begrudgingly allowed me to keep 267.00 a week of my wages but that doesn'teven cover my rent. I have no problem paying for my kids and always have done, thinking I was doing the right thing.....
