Hi, Has anyone dealt with Durham Legal Services. My husband rang them today, but for them to deal with our case it is going to cost £1,500. My husband is due to appear in court next week regarding alleged arrears of £19k. Just wondered whether it was worth paying DLS or deal with it ourselves although we have had little joy dealing with it so far. We have been in touch with our MP who contacted CSA on our behalf, but MP has now said nothing more they can do! Help please!!

I think their record speaks for itself and I know many Senior Tribunal Judges give them a lot of respect. All you need to do is have a look at the many Upper Tribunal cases they have been involved with and won to see why. I think that would be the test I would use how far can this company go to sort out the issue.

I think it’s a loaded question to ask on here whether DLS NACSA or CSS are any good; firstly, you get members of the CSA rubbish all three along with the ex partners of everyone they have represented. You say your husband spoke to DLS today so I am guessing they have identified a problem that your MP has not, if so why don’t you go back to the MP and tell them what you were advised. Also have you spoken to NACSA or CSS if not perhaps you both should that way you will get a gut feeling about all three and then go with your instincts, in particular, the full cost in the event the case goes all the way to Upper Tribunal.

i used a company called child support services that were able to advise me ... but it cost me £1,500 for them to represent me in court ( money I couldnt realy afford) I paid for them to represent me once and after that I did it myself, Things that I was advised were errelivent i brought up as my x husband lied so much in his statements that I think it helped to show he lied... errelevenet yes but then the judges could see he was a liar.
Ypou can take any one you like with you to a tribunal it doesnt have to be a leagal person it could just be a friend... GOOD LUCK
