Hello, my boyfriend was paying child support and then went to live in brazil. When he went he told the csa (phoned and wrote to them using brazilian version of recorded delivery) but never got a written reply from them. When he went he stopped the standing order payments from his bank account. He's now back in uk and working for over a year and not had any contact from csa. Question we have is would his case be closed from when he left uk or just suspended? There were no arrears when leaving, so should this still be the case? Many thanks.

Cases are closed when an NRP leaves the jurisdiction. Of course if the PWC finds out your boyfriend is back in the country, she could apply to open a new case.

He knows a special trace was issued, but ex didn't trigger it (she now working but still getting child benefit) and details on the form were mixed up with another guy with same name also in the csa system! The timing of special trace coincides with him coming back to UK and starting work here and only the inland revenue knew about that - hence him being paranoid that they'll automatically notify the csa of any change he makes. To be honest it wouldn't be hard to find him as he has credit cards and is working, but seems like admin error on csa side - if they didn't get a reply from special trace request, do you know what they try next? Thanks
