    Hi all,

I'm due to start a new job in May & my new employer has offered me a car allowance as opposd to a company car. After researching the tax implications,I have discovered that it would be paid as part of my salary & is subject to the usual tax deductions - does this mean that the facist bastards can take account of this as earnings despite it being of no cash benefit to me?
Anyone else in the same boat?

    Hi,

I was in the same situation last year, I had a car allowance from my work.

It is classed as a taxable income and will be added in the CSA calculations, I argued with CSA about this, saying I needed the car allowance to run my car for work purposes, but they would not listen.. I have now opted out of that and have a company car and get taxed at source in the normal way.

It worked out that I could not afford to run the car I needed for my work as I was paying 20% of the car allowance for child maint...

Any income extra (overtime, bonuses, allowances) get taken into account and the CSA take

    I hope this helps

Sorry car allowance is not classed as earnings for child support.

I dont know who this other person was talking to. Overtime and bonuses are.

Has your child support maintenance already been assessed. If so dont let them know about any extra money you get. Im sure your ex will be doing the same.

    Good luck
