Hello, when my boyfriend completes his tax return, changes employer or tax code, etc. does the inland revenue automatically tell the csa? He wants to let "sleeping dogs lye" but was told if a special trace was requested any status change they notify the csa. Because of this he doesn't want to do anything even get a better job which he could do easily. Thanks for any advice or experience!

No the Inland Revenue don't automatically inform the CSA. However, if they become aware that someone has changed jobs, and a request for the new employment information isn't answered, they can do a trace with the Inland Revenue to find the new employer.

Thanks for the reply Big Gaz. We read somewhere that if you tell tax office you've changed address, this automatically updates other computer systems including the csa - do you know if this happens? He's had special trace letters (form 154) go to his old address where his flatmate still lives and ignored them - only the tax office had this address (his ex had no idea) so is paranoid if he updates/changes anything with tax man it'll automatically trigger the csa! Thanks

As far as I am aware the inland revenue only give info when asked, they don't notify changes. The csa will only review the case you have, if requested, by you or the ex. The ex at anytime can request the case to be reassessed and so can you - you do have to inform them if you move though - but the csa cant divulge this information to the ex due to data protection - they can fine you if you don't inform them of a change of address. hope this helps a little.
