Hi Peeps, New to this so forgive my lack of terminology etc.
I have just received a CSA decision. I have 3 children to a previous marriage and 1 new child with my current wife.
I earn a measly £125.00 per week doing a part time job. My letter from the CSA states my income at £226 per week. So i phone them up. the conversation was that bizarre i dont even think my question was answered. Something about taking tax credits as income.
Now i ve looked through the CSA booklet, looked at the website. Cant find anything anywhere that says they use this as income. This led to my next question. If i didnt have a new child, then i would nt get tax credits. so you re taking from the mouth of my new child???? Im just sso confused. Can anyone out there explain as i thought they had stopped all the robbery. Many thanks.

  2. All tax credits are a part of your income for Child Support purposes, if you are the main earner in your family. To calculate your CSA, add your net pay to your tax credits and then multiply the result by 21%.

Thank you for your reply. New question.

The above post says that they take tax credits as income IF you are the main earner.
As it happens my wife earns £1000 more than me, thus making her the higher earner.
I have been told that they take half tax credits if you earn the same salary as partner.
Does anyone know what the threshold is.
Eg If i earn £4000 and she earns £4500, would that be classed as same??? How much more than the lower figure does your salary need to be to be classed as higher (i hope that made sense). Im hoping someone can help with this question as asking the CSA is frankly a waste of time as they dont seem to know what they are doing, which means i have little hope. thankyou in advance.
