hi, i have a child to a one night stand about 5 years ago, i made payments through the csa last year for a period of a few month when the first became involved at which point i asked for a dna test, i was then off work for approximatly 4-5 months due to injury and left my employment, i then started a new job in june, i had not recieved any correspondance from the csa at this time as they were told i was unemployed, then i recieved my payslip last week to find that 40% of my after tax wage had been deducted leaving me with little money for xmas, they say they want arrears of around 4000 for the last 5 months that i have been back at work but they cant justify it and wont listen to anything i say, i work in sales so i can earn 800 one month an 3k the next but they means tested the biggest wage i had an decided thats what i have to pay, how can i get them to reasses this as nothing seems to help?
i am trying to arrange to sort something with the mother myself as they said if that was the case then they could drop their involvement...is this a good idea?
or my other option is just to try and work abroad as i cannot afford to live where i work on what i will be left with
