I am £6000 in arrears and have been on a AOe for several years, paying £22.00 pw £8 for maintenance and £14.00 for arrears, i have shared care of my 2 kids 2 nights per week and am on good terms with ex wife. The Csa wrote to me saying at the curent level the debt wont be cleared untill 2019 and should be really paid within 2 years. they added £1 to my weekly payment and said the account will be passed on for review and i could be subject of a liability order, they said this just makes the debt recognisable in law, i have no problem with paying but i cant pay anymore, they sent my ex a letter the other day she told me the letter asked for any details she has reguarding my personal situation bank accounts cars, houses, wage, etc and telling her that they have extensive powers to send me to prison and bailiffs etc, and told her not to inform me about the letter,i spoke to someone who said the csa expect 9/10 parents to not get on so they will reply to the letter and then the csa can investigate any differences in information i have given, my ex has thrown the letter in the bin. Why are they doing this when they have an Atachment of earnings order, are they just trying it on or will something more serious happen?

Don't let yourself be bullied. If you are continuing to pay then the CSA have no business pursuing a liability order against you. The two year repayment is a guideline given to case workers. There is nothing in law to state that.

It might be worth having a session with the NACSA. Their website is at http://www.nacsa.co.uk
