    Dear All

Im looking for advice on CSA Arrears.

My husband has been infomed by the CSA that he owes some arrears (we have no written confirmation of this) its all over the telephone.

The amount he owes isnt much (compared to others), however the CSA are refusing to tell him (under the Data Protection Act) the period the arrears cover. They are protecting the mother as she was claiming benefits.

They have asked my husband to send bank statements (but for no specific period), so they can check any payments he made during this period. They have claimed if my husband refuses to pay they will take him to court.

Though surely they should be able to confirm in writing to him with figures when the arrears were acrrued.

Can anyone please advice what we should do.

    Many Thanks

They have to give you a breakdown of any requests for payments. Make your request in writing and send by registered post if need be, they are quick to loose things also you could ask to fax over the letter and get them to fax back that it has been recieved. Also make a request for your data protection file they will love you for that, someone has to physically get you files and copy supposidly everything in them although I never rec'd all of my information. These files should hold all the information on payments and anything to do with the mother will be blanked out but you will get to see all the assessments/changes/letters/telephone conversations, you can also ask for the actual spoken words on CD but to date I have not recd mine.Follow with a call to them to yet again ask for the info. They will try to delay as much has they can on providing the information. Never give in and pay them what they say, there are other avenues you can follow up with after Compliants, then to Compliants review Team, then to Independent Case Examiner.

    Hello

We wrote to the CSA requesting a breakdown of the arrears (before we considered making any payments, as directed to by a fellow poster). The CSA have called today, and confirmed receipt of the letter, but are refusing to provide a breakdown, as it is down to my husband to show he has paid.

My husband has pointed out were still yet to recieve any written confirmation of the arrears owed (the sum) they have said they dont do this as they are a telephone based organiations.

Any advice on our next options...

    Thanks

Telephone based organisation?? I think I have received more mail from them in the last month than junk mail in the last year. I am just starting out on my assessment for the second time (had a break from them for 2 years when I managed to get joint custody, sadly no more) and they send me updated schedules, when the claim started from, what I have paid to date, and what is in arrears, how it is all calculated and everything. I should say that they are obliged to provide a written breakdown, which should include all of what I have received. It may be possible you came across a "hard done to employee" whom frankly doesn't give a monkeys. Personally I would go back to them telling them how other people receive confirmation of their case, you need it to be able to confirm/assess yourself properly, and if that person says no ask for a supervisor. Stick to your guns, it is your information at the end of the day.
