After a long and costly court battle my ex was allowed by the court to take our child abroad where they remarried. The court stated that i would not have to pay any monthly contributions as of the time that they left. Six months later and after numerous calls the CSA were still taking the monthly contributions out of my pay while they 'investigated' the case. I then recieved a letter stating that the case was closed as of the time they left and that the 'Child was not with the mother'. When i asked what they meant by this i was told that they could not tell me due to data protection. I know this sounds stupid but is this a litteral meaning? How can i find out where the child is? All contact with my ex ceased a few months ago.

Ask them which Clause of the Data Protection Act prohibits them from advising the natural parent of the whereabouts of their child.
You will not get a straight answer.
