    Im about to apply for a maintanence order by CMEC /CSA. I pay £500-600 per month for my kids voluntarily but i get into so many arguments with my ex trio that i've decided to apply myself so i can stop being a feckless fool! I don’t live with any of the mothers but I spend 3 nights a week with one of my kids, and others come over once a week. My net weekly income is about £500 per week. The CMEC calculators don’t factor for if u spend different amounts of time weekly with each child and obviously fact I spend so much time with one brings it down by quite a bit. Any ideas on how money would be divided between mothers ? would it still be an equal division or would some get more than others from the total contribution ?

    Take 25% of your total net earnings. Divide this by three. This figure will be what is payable to each PWC before adjustments.

    Now make the adjustment for shared care.

    D = F x S/T

    Where F is the unadjusted figure, S the nights shared care for that PWC's children and T is the total available nights for that PWC, giving D, the deduction.

    eg Two children stay over one night per week so D = F x 2/14

    Now deduct D from F to give the final figure. Repeat this with the other PWCs.

    If a child stays overnight with you as often as he/she does with the PWC ie equal shared care then deduct another £7 per week for that maintenance unit.

    Thanks for taking your time and write a reply.
    However my maths is poor. I can't work out the formula.
    I have 3 girls with one mother, and then other two mothers have a child each.
    It appears I'll pay less using CSA, but I'm not trying to reduce money. It's the arguments over money and who gets what and when and whose being favoured etc etc. I'm 41 going on 61 and various squabbles have most definitely had a part to play in the various break ups over the years as current partners see how ex partners are able to manipulate by use of words 'CSA'! I think it's disgusting that the process is used as a weapon , some opening and closing cases on numerous occasions, as a way of getting upper hand and government disregard this. I love my kids and their mothers but the system encourages the control and manipulation, that alot of the same women allege abuse at male hands but for them its legal ! If I could live again "snip snip" and I'd climb Everest and visit The Sahara and The Amazon.. Second thoughts I'd probably get someone pregnant there too..
    Is the split/ division of my contribution not per child rather than per mother ?

    Post your details and I'll do the calculation for you.

    I'll need your income after tax, NI and pension contributions. Say if it's monthly or weekly.

    You have
    1 PWC with three children
    1 PWC with one child
    1 PWC with one child

    How many children stay with you overnight and how often for each family unit?
