My husband was contacted in 1994 for maintenance, we received assessments but kept returning them as our info was wrong, we have 2 kids, In 1999 we recieved a letter saying case closed 0.01 owed.
In 2000 we received 3 letters altogether say we owed money, but i rang and said how could we case was closed and 0.01 was owed.
Since 2000 we have not heard a word from them, they even confirmed the last letter sent to us was July 2000 and my telephone call in Sept still querying why they have sent us letters say we owe money, but no one came back to me, since then no contact at all.
His daughter is now 29 and last Saturday we got a letter saying we owe £xxxx.xx amount of money which 2/3 is going to his ex partner.

Can they do this after 12 years of no contact, our daughter starts Uni in Sept now she wont be able to, if they deduct this money from my husbands account. We have been together now 24 years and what make me more angry is the ex had an affair and disappeared with his daughter 26 years ago, the 1st we heard from her was when she was 18, we both work and we have always been careful with money, were not flush with money, we get by, the CSA won't even help they have just said they are ringing This Friday to confirm repayments. How can i tell my daughter after studying so hard we can't help with University.
