CSA not paying my money

July 2, 2010

This is the third occasion that i have experienced this problem. Due to technical problems with the csa computers, money owed to my child which has already been taken from his father’s wage has not been paid into child’s bank.

This has been going on since april this year. Where is my child’s money? One can only suppose it is sitting in their bank gaining interest as it certainly isn’t in my child’s.

Was informed that it will take 6 weeks to resolve and that mean time i would receive a manual payment which is still not in child’s bank.

I had this problem too, I take it you are ‘clerical’ that means basically you are not getting the correct money at the correct time and so because it is sporadic they have to do it manually, there are two buttons on the computer they have to press, one to save put money into your account and the other to actually transfer it, if they only press the one button then it says on their system it has been paid to you but obviously it is only paid to you once the other button is pressed (thats the simple terms of it) so obviously it says on their system it has been paid to you. You have to chase them and check with your bank too, I know cos thats what I had to do! Good Luck.

Same here, I had no payments for 8 months (the time it took to do a new calculation) then I got one payment in May, now they are holding onto my maintenance payment since they received it 10 June while they do “work” on my case (surely this should of been covered during those 8 months of working on it!)
They are a poor excuse for a department. I have spent a fair amount of money on numerous phone calls to these idiots, and I get quoted one of two things “someone will call you back within 5 working days” (NEVER happens) or “That department have 21/28 working days to deal with your case” (WORK?!…at that rate, there doesn’t seem to be much of that going on)
I hate the CSA with a passion. My ex badgered me for 2 years to have a private arrangement, but because he was unreliable I refused, now I have had my fill of the CSA I have agreed to private arrangement…and now he wants to use the CSA because he can pay less that way. A**hole!!

My ex wants me to make a private arrangement because she’s not getting the money regularly through the CSA. Ironic that I wanted to do that several years ago, and she refused. Now she’s had enough of them too.

However, I won’t do that now because I neither trust her, nor the CSA. There are too many stories on this website of people who have made private arrangements, with the CSA being informed, only for them to ‘forget’ when it suits them and then go chasing arrears that aren’t owed.

I know for a fact should that happen that she would swear blind she had received nothing, and it would be my word against hers… and we all know how that turns out when the CSA is concerned.

Since I last posted my comment regarding non payment by the csa and not my partner I got in touch with my MP and the monies owed was in my account in less than a week with a letter and phonecall of apology from CSA. However they still could not assure me that there would definitely be no further problems. I have every sympathy with Darren Jamieson and would not recommend the CSA route for him but maybe get a lawyer to witness a written agreement regarding payments to ex and a direct debit instigated as then there would be proof for him regarding payments being made?

Darren…if you paid your ex via standing order or cheque there would be proof that you paid.

Phoned the CSA again for the upteenth time, same old bull…my account sheets are not up to date so the payment wont be released yet. I mentioned wanting to involve I.C.E, and that if the csa do not release the payment to the parent with care within 28 days etc etc and suddenly I could sense the panic in the voice of the csa employee.
I asked my ex to set up a standing order so that he would have proof (as his excuse at first was that I would deny receiving money) but when I mentioned the above mentioned methods, he suddenly went quiet. The truth is, he would rather pay a measly £8 pw via the csa because he has cash in hand jobs. It really annoys me when feckless fathers avoid paying their dues.

Hi Clair – yes there would be proof that I had ‘paid’, but no proof as to what the money was for. I’ve seen this many times on this website. As soon as my ex, or the CSA (whichever comes first) decides they want some more they can come back to me and say I haven’t been paying.

Yes I’ll have proof that I have paid money, but they’ll come out with some crap about that being for a loan, a gift, a debt, for the purchase of something or whatever other lies they want to make up. It’s happened many times before, and while the CSA is the most corrupt, incompetent organisation I have ever had to deal with – cutting them out and making a private arrangement is tantamount to sticking your nuts in a vice and playing a waiting game… sooner or later either the ex or the CSA will crush them.

    Hi Darren,

I know your woe’s….I have just regained employment after 12 months on JSA.
I immediately informed the CSA and was promply told that I owed “arrears” from over 12 months ago! as I had been on Maintenance Direct (I paid by Standing Order to my Ex – All payments labelled as Maintenance too!)

They are now saying that I should have been paying them! and they want their money. They have already threatened me with a DEO.

This is despite the fact that I have all my documentation from the CSA stating I was on Maintenance Direct for the specified period they are claiming!

My ex is saying she never received payment from me for maintenance too!! even though I can prove the money was transferred to her!

I am at my wits end with this bunch of useless, ignorant, rude, bullying, egotistical, incompetent idiots called the CSA!!

I used to pay 25% of my salary every month for my 3 children, whom I love dearly (this could have been reduced by 1/7th due to me having them stay 1 night per week – but everything was amicable etc at the time so I didn’t mind..)

Now that I have a new job, I will be having the shared care reduction implemented as I can’t trust my Ex. However, I cannot trust the CSA either!!

I will pay the CSA my monthly amount based on correct calculations, however, I am disputing the so called “arrears” as I have all the proof that I don’t owe this.

I cannot afford 40% of my salary being deducted as a DEO due to the CSA’s incompetence. If they take this amount, I won’t have enough money to get to work, so therefore won’t be able to earn!! how will that benefit my children then!!!

The Government need to wake up and smell the roses!! however I believe a quote from Adolf Hitler (of all people….) sums up the Governments position on the CSA
“As long as government are perceived as acting in the best interests of children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty.”

I for one, will not endure my liberty to be curtailed!!

I am sympathetic to the PWC’s that don’t get money from their Ex’s too. You deserve to have maintenance. Unfortunately the CSA would appear to ignore your plight in favour of “Easy Pickings” from those that do already pay….

I have no sympathy however for NRP’s that are absent, and refuse to pay anything for their children.

    Anyways,

    Rant/Rave over.

    Thanks for reading.
